Nice of you to drop by, so thank you for your interest.
I've been working at the Junior School for quite a few years; certainly more than I care to think of. I originally joined the school as a Parent Teacher Association member and soon became the Chair. Because of that, I used to be in school quite a lot and was eventually asked to help out as a Midday Supervisor by Mrs Holmes. It wasn't what I really wanted to do. However, as my youngest son had a disability, I felt working more than the minimum hours disadvantaged my family. I soon realised I loved working in the school and decided to retrain as a Teaching Assistant. So here I am today!
I feel my experience as a mother of a child (now adult), with several needs, serves me well in understanding and empathising with those children and families that have a child in need of extra support.
Apart from my work, I'm a pretty hands on kind of person and have, in the past, be known to be a bit of a DIYer; ripping out walls, redesigning and creating garden and ponds, not to mention refitting my bathrooms. In addition to this I have been known to make a few costumes for school productions and take just a few photographs of events within the school ;)
Over the years I've worked in all year groups with the exception of year three. Just over two years ago I joined the Year 3 Team. I'm loving the challenges it brings and am so glad to have the opportunity to work with yet another super team, super children and all in all, a fabulous, caring and inspiring school.
