West Bridgford Junior School

Incident at School today

Dear Parents,

Your children may have come home and mentioned an incident that happened at school today concerning a man who was looking over our wall into the playground at break time this afternoon.

As it happened so near to the end of the day, it was difficult to speak to all the classes, but I did speak to Year 3 and Year 6.

We told the children not to worry and that it was almost certainly something innocent, but we do have to be so careful when it comes to safeguarding.  Mr Martin spoke to the man and we then phoned the police.  They responded very quickly and have been able to identify the person concerned and have visited him.

I just wanted you to know that we followed our school procedure and the police were pleased that we did.  They now know who this person is and where he lives and would just like to reassure you that it has been dealt with.  I know that some of the children did go home upset so I just wanted to clarify the situation for you.

We will continue to be vigilant and take the safety of your children very seriously and, if in any doubt, will always seek the support of our local police.
